Family-Therapy is located in the West end of Ottawa. We provide mental health psychotherapy services to children, youth, individuals, couples, and families.

Position Description

  • Provide clinical therapy services to adults and couples.
  • Maintain client records by documenting client assessments, preparing progress notes and reports in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures to meet regulatory requirements of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Remain abreast of current literature and relevant developments in clinical practice.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development.
  • The successful clinician must be willing, trained, and able to work with couples.

Must possess the following sets of credentials with competencies in assessment, treatment and therapy for adults and couples:

  • Master’s degree in social work and must be currently registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Taken training or is willing to take training using Gottman, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, or RLI training (Terry Real), must have training in couples counselling outside of your university.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Recent and relevant experience in the field of mental health working directly with adults and couples as a social worker, utilizing experiential therapy in community-based, outpatient programs or in private practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles regarding individual and couples therapy, including current models of both short-term and long-term intervention.
  • Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and intermediate computer skills.
  • Proven leadership and self-initiative, and demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to foster and improve relationships between professionals and community programs.
  • Fluency and proficiency in English is a must.  Fluency in French and the ability to speak other languages is an asset.

  • Clear criminal record check is required.
  • Availability to work daytime, some evenings, and potentially Saturday.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
